This time last week, we were getting all the last minute bits in place ready for Saturday’s late summer fete held at the Magdalen Court School and Kinderkare site. Being the first time we’ve ever done something like this, we weren’t sure at all what to expect.
However, we’re pleased to announce that an astounding £1,295.49 has been raised for local bereavement support charity, Balloons. A charity very close to Naomi’s heart, she’s delighted by how much last weekend was able to raise “Balloons is a charity close to my heart. It’s been an honour working alongside them to bring this event to life and knowing how much the funds raised will help them in providing vital services. For example, £1000 will cover the cost of running a volunteer grief support worker group for a whole year. The extra £200 raised on top of that could pay for an activity day at Haven Banks for 5 children”.
Balloons also want to pass on their gratitude. Office, Systems and Events Manager at Balloons, Jo Overton-Pitts, said: “Thank you so much to everyone who worked so hard to make the Summer Fete a success. The funds raised will make a big difference to a small local charity like Balloons and will help us to support more bereaved children in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. We simply couldn’t do the important work we do without the support of the local community”.
The amazing amount raised would not have been possible without the generosity of local sponsors and raffle donors, who we mentioned in last week’s blog – thank you all again so much for what you did to make this community day a success.
