Either they’re your friends, relatives or life savers. We all have at least one nurse in our lives for whom we have great admiration and appreciation for their care and dedication to their patients.
Every year for the past 51 years, the contribution nurses make to society has been marked through the celebration of International Nurses Day on 12 May. Our team know that Exeter wards are absolutely full of amazing nurses that deserve a special thank you for everything they do every day.
Teaming up with Sugar Rush Exeter, we asked people via our Facebook page to nominate their local nurse. The winner would get a surprise from Sugar Rush by the end of the day, delivered straight to their door. True testament to how much nurses deserve high praise, the response to this small ask was phenomenal. Within just a few hours, we had nearly 50 nominations and had the Express and Echo contacting us as they wanted to share the story!
The lucky winner was Michele Snell of the Bolham Ward, announced on Facebook on the evening of the 12 May. Frankly, we had so many entries, we thought one winner wasn’t enough, so Sugar Rush did an extra delivery on the 13 May to the most highly nominated ward, the Bramble children’s ward at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (pictured above).
A small token to show the huge appreciation we have for the nurses and the difference they make to the Exeter community.
