Every month, meet a member of the Naomi J Ryan team! This month we are happy to introduce you to Naomi, our Director.
How long have you been an Estate Agent?
18 years, I started with an independent agent in Exeter, in fact I purchased my first house from them.
What did you want to be when you were a child?
Throughout my childhood my passion was and still is horses, I wanted to be a jockey. I wanted to win the Grand National after watching the film International Velvet (image source: Wikipedia).

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I adore spending time with my daughter and of course Gus – my Daschund. We enjoy going for walk on the beach, Haldon Park, River Dart, popping to our local farm shops, Greendale, Darts Farm, and the Orange Elephant for ice cream. Then we do things that I can’t do with my Gus, like the cinema, Crealy and other children’s parks.

If you could purchase a property anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I love Dartmouth, I would buy a property overlooking the River Dart and have breakfast every day at Café Alf Resco. I have so many fond memories of Dartmouth, my favourite beach is Blackpool Sands and I love the little streets with all the independent shops, especially Saveurs the Patisserie, Sunday Lunch at the Royal Castle and Fish and Chips from Rockfish sat on a bench overlooking the water.

In your opinion, what is the most important thing for people to consider when buying a property?
There are a few things to consider when you are buying your first home. I would recommend that you take your time and don’t rush. Find a good independent financial advisor and use a local firm of solicitors who have a good understanding of the area you would like to purchase in. Ensure you work out the costs of buying, from legal fees to removal costs.
What do you enjoy most about your job and working at Naomi J Ryan?
I can honestly say that I love coming to work. I am very lucky to have such an amazing team to work alongside. Thankfully I don’t have many “bad days” but if we do, it’s sometimes caused by unforeseen circumstances that cannot be helped when buying and selling a property.
What do you like most about Exeter?
We have such amazing choices in Exeter. I like to do many things with my daughter. I enjoy walking along the Quayside or Estuary with Gus and stopping for lunch and of course a glass of wine.

What’s your favourite joke?
My favourite joke would be the one my daughter tells me almost every day because she thinks I forget the answer.
Why did the banana go to the doctors? Because he wasn’t peeling very well.
Every time she tells me, it’s like the first time and she giggles away and that makes me smile.
